I'm mainly posting this link to see if my work family truly checks to see if I've posted anything lately. But as I watched the video and saw the family standing on their porch laughing, it made me wonder if they realize that at any second that sinkhole could swallow them right up!  Who would be smiling then? I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be them!   http://www.weather.com/news/news/sinkhole-swallows-snow-plow-new-jersey

Just a little something to keep in mind.  Even though you think you're safe, you're not! Imagine yourself walking down the street and all of the sudden....

Sweet dreams!

Well, here you go.  The perfect example of a 'holy shit', 'butt pucker' moment.  You're sitting in traffic and all of the sudden, right next to you, the ground gives way and there is not a thing you can do about it except hope that the person sitting in traffic next to you moves over just enough so you're not dangling on the edge of a hole that wants to swallow you alive. Check out the link under the picture. See how fast it happens?

Officials say the sinkhole can be pinned on recent rains that eroded the pavement.

One of my bosses, Gary, was nagging me today about what I need to add to my blog.  He went on and on and on and on.  I offered to let him take over the blog, but he declined.  So in the hopes that he leaves me alone tomorrow, I am posting what he asked for.  A map of the sinkholes in America.

You'll notice that Florida is pretty much ready to swallow itself whole. Get out while you can!!!

As an added bonus for Gary, here are some more pictures of said sinkholes in Florida...these two houses are currently vacant.

This sinkhole is 80 feet long and 40 feet wide and opened in a family's garden. As the hole grew closer and closer, it forced them out of the home they built 37 years ago.

And finally, how would you like to come home and find this?  This is in Tampa Bay.

.

Gary, is this good enough?  I hope you're happy.

My boys at work forced me to start this blog.  I'm sure they're hoping I'll just post on this blog instead of disrupting their day, making them stop what they're doing to watch the latest video or see the latest picture I've come across.  Sorry boys, not gonna happen!
I first became obsessed/intrigued with sinkholes when I saw the following image about a sinkhole in Guatemala in 2007.  It's approximately 60 feet wide and 300 feet deep and swallowed 15 people, a 3 story building, cars, telephone poles and everything else in it's vicinity.

My niece and I have a running tongue-in-cheek prediction about the end of the world coming. Every earthquake, tsunami, and "Florida man eating the face off a homeless man" story, we take as a sign that the end is near. For some reason, to me, a sinkhole is the most terrifying. I don't know why. The thought of doing something as simple as playing golf and suddenly you are in the ground from a sinkhole freaks me out!

Or knowing that the ground can open up under your bedroom with no warning....Stay out of Florida!!!
